Washington football lands in-state superstar O-lineman
Washington football has rounded out their best offensive line class ever by landing the four-star offensive lineman from Ferndale!
The long awaited commitment of Geirean Hatchett to Washington football has finally come! Hatchett has decided to stay home, choosing UW over countless other offers from programs like Oklahoma, Stanford, Alabama, and Ohio State. The interior offensive lineman projects as a guard at the next level, and is a perfect fit for UW’s power run game, as he’s an amazing athlete who is at his best when he’s pulling across the formation.
This is yet another win for offensive line coach Scott Huff, who is showing off his elite recruiting skills, landing his fourth blue chip prospect of the year. This is arguably the best offensive line class the Huskies have ever managed to collect. If the Huskies want to compete on the national level, an elite offensive line is a great place to start. It’s worth mentioning that Hatchett has the most offers (27) ever from a player out of Ferndale High, topping former UW star Jake Locker.
Fit at UW
Hatchett projects as a multi-year starter at guard for the Huskies. He won’t play right away, as he only weighs 270 pounds, which is on the small side since he still plays baseball at Ferndale. But some time with strength coach Tim Socha will certainly change that, and by his redshirt sophomore season, he’ll be a superstar on the interior.
He has tremendous feet and great strength, and is already a polished run blocker, who just needs to work on his pass protection. With the time that he’ll have with the elite depth that has been built up, and the elite talent that he’ll be practicing against every day, he’ll be a proficient pass blocker in no time. One of the best things about stacking elite talent along the offensive line is letting them grow and develop, and with all the talent on defense that they have to practice against, Washington is sure to have one of the best offensive lines in America for years to come.
Congratulations to Geirean on his commitment!!
