Washington football lands a three-star running back
Washington football has landed their fifth commitment of the 2020 class, this time in the form of a three-star running back out of Waco, Texas
Washington football has added a talented piece to their running backs room for the class of 2020, in the form of three-star running back Jay’Veon Sunday out of Connally (Texas) High School in Waco! Sunday is an impressive prospect (with an awesome name) who will give UW a speedy, shifty type back with some strength and room to add weight.
Sunday’s numbers are simply outstanding, and he’s already the top rusher in his school’s history before even setting foot on the field for his senior year. During his junior season, he carried the ball an eye-popping 300 times for 2,329 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Fit at UW
With a room full of upperclassmen, Sunday will probably redshirt during the 2019 campaign and strength coach Tim Socha will probably try to add 10-15 pounds to his frame to try to mold him into a Lavon Coleman type of back. He can sit and learn behind Kamari Pleasant, Sean McGrew, and Salvon Ahmed for a year, and maybe take over a complementary role in 2020. Right now, Sunday looks like a much faster version of Malik Braxton, and he has a ton of room to grow.
He also gives the Huskies a ton of flexibility on the recruiting trail for 2020 and can create a 1-2 punch with a certain in-state star at running back. Having a ton of depth in the running backs room is crucial for success on the big stage, and the Huskies are very good at developing stars at that position.
The class of 2020 is shaping up to be a great one for the Huskies, and Sunday gives the Dawgs a great addition from the state of Texas, where we’ve seen some excellent players develop at UW, see Levi Onwuzurike and Aaron Fuller. Congratulations to Jay’Veon on his commitment!!
