Bishop Sankey was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, and being an Air Force kid, he moved around a bit. He would end up playing his high school football at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, where he would become one of the best running backs in the state of Washington.

By the time he made his way to the Washington football program, he was ready to take over as the feature running back. He would go on to be one of the best to ever do it for the Huskies. The former four-star recruit and track star in high school, would become one of the more prolific rushers in school history, setting numerous records along the way.

In fact, it was Sankey who set the Huskies single-season rushing record held by Corey Dillion, as his 200-yard effort in the Apple Cup gave him 1,775 yards to Dillon’s 1,695. A first-team All-Pac-12 player, Sankey was named a second-team All-American in that 2013 season. He left school as the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (37), and third in rushing yards (3,496)

Sankey was the first running back taken in the 2014 NFL Draft, as the Tennessee Titans came calling with the 54th overall selection in the second round. He left Washington a year early after his junior season, where he was the team’s captain. One can only wonder what other records he would have set had he come back for one more season with the program.
