Sonny Sixkiller is the best of a long line of outstanding players who started at quarterback for the Washington Huskies in program history. A dominant force for the Huskies who could turn a game on its head with his arm, or his legs, Sixkiller helped turn the Huskies program around. He comes in as the No. 4 player in the history of Washington football.

During his high school days at Ashland High School in Oregon, Sixkiller was the backup to Gene Willis early in his career. Willis was a big reason Sixkiller followed him to Washington. During his time at Washington, Sixkiller would turn the Huskies offense from a run-heavy one into one that could rely on the passing game, which is why he had such a decorated career for the school.

Sixkiller started as a sophomore, taking over under center for a team that went 1-9 the year before. He would win six games in that first season as the starting quarterback, before leading the team to eight wins in the next two seasons. He re-wrote the record books during his stint with the Huskies, setting 15 school records along the way.

Despite how well he played for Washington, Sixkiller was not drafted and ended up going into film, as he had a role in The Longest Yard. He was an incredible athlete, playing both football and baseball at Washington and is member of the Husky Hall of Fame.
