(6) Will Washington commit to running the ball with Myles Gaskin?

Well…maybe. I don’t like wishy-washy answers, but it truly depends upon that Auburn defense.  Last season, the running game was punctuated by those long powerful strides of running back Myles Gaskin.  But everyone in the nation witnessed that.

What the nation also witnessed is how easily Washington is persuaded to abandon the running game. In several losses last season, the Huskies found success behind Gaskin’s runs. They simply failed to hand the ball to him often enough to pull out a victory.

In this opener, you can bet Auburn has been coached to neutralize the impact of Myles Gaskin. That could turn the early going to this game rather tough for the Huskies. Still, the Huskies have faced stalwart defenses in the past. If they are shut down on one front, you have to believe the team will find other ways to move the chains.

But the team will need big plays from big players in this game if they hope to win. That means the team must find ways to get the ball into the hands of Gaskin, and find ways to get Gaskin into open space.
