Washington Football players coaches and fans will have questions answered in the season opener against ninth-ranked Auburn. But which questions?

When the Washington Football team travels across the country to face Auburn on September 1 before a national audience, it will mark the opening of a very challenging 2018 schedule.  This is a season bursting with optimism as well as fraught with dangerous disappointment.  But the 2017 season had plenty of both too.  In the end, we learned the cruel lesson of injuries and becoming too confident.

This season, the team enters healthy. Perhaps the team is a bit wiser too.

While the Huskies, like every NCAA college football team lost some significant contributors to the NFL via the draft, the team remains stocked with talent on both the offense and defense.  The team has plenty of returning starters from last season’s 10-3 team. Adding to that pool of talent is a tsunami of incoming freshmen players, all eager to contribute from game one on.

This is an important season for the Washington Huskies. The team has gotten close to entering the NCAA elite. But the 2017 season almost seemed to witness a regression for the team overall. Despite lofty expectations, the team had to settle for a contest against Penn State University, a bowl game they lost.
