Washington Football left tackle Trey Adams is coming back from injury this season. Can he emerge from rehab to resume dominant offensive line play in his senior, and last, season?
Washington Football left offensive tackle Trey Adams stands 6-foot-8 and weighs in a 331 pounds. There is no question in anyone’s mind that he looks the part of a starting NFL offensive lineman. But he fell to injury last season in a brutal contest against Arizona State University. That injury took him out for the remainder of the season. In many ways, the offense was simply not the same without him.
Adams is on the road to recovery this season. He injured his right knee ACL, an injury which had once risked ending a football players career. Now, medical science has advanced treatements which ensure a significant likelihood of full recovery. Significant likelihood, but not a 100 percent guarantee. Rehabilitating a knee is hard work. Fortunately, Adams has the perfect mindset to grind it out and emerge stronger and more determined than ever.
When healthy, he is the epitome of offensive lineman. He plays aggressively, seeking to initiate first contact. And once he engages, he drives his tree-trunk-like legs until he pancakes a defender, or moves them so far out of the play that they will not recover. He sticks with the pass rusher, showing an amazing lateral burst to remain between defender and quarterback.
He is a formidable blocker who has that selfless mentality. Selfless, but he is fierce and relentless. He flourishes in the trenches, never backing down. And the only way the Washington Football team competes for a national championship is by benefiting from the best season Trey Adams can muster.
Saving the best for last
This is certainly an important season for Adams, as well as for the Washington Football team. Adams projected as high as a Top-10 pick for the 2018 NFL Draft before injury. And he held the spot as top Pac-12 offensive lineman last season

As well as this season, his last one in purple and gold. You can bet he will line up with something to prove this year. Putting it all on the line is something he’s done every year.

So the stage is already set. And just in time. After all, the schedule is fairly rigid this season.

Strength against strength
The season opener will pit strength against strength as the Washington Huskies offensive line faces the Auburn Tigers defensive line. Auburn is restocking the roster on several fronts, but that defensive line just went from great to scary great. The defensive line lost one player in Jeff Holland, and has added five new big bodies. The Huskies likewise lost center Coleman Shelton, but add three new offensive linemen to the roster this season.

Adams will likely draw his assignment against defensive end Marlon Davidson. While Davidson disappointed last season, much of the production deficit is attributed to several injuries endured last season. He may also face off against Auburn “buck” linebacker T. D. Moultry. Moultry takes over for Holland, and many believe he will pick up right where Holland has left off. Regardless of their ceilings, Adams must prepare to face two entirely different but effective styles of play in just the first contest.
The season gets no easier from there.
But that will have little effect on Adams. As a matter of fact, he seeks out challenge, and does not shy away when he finds it. You see, he possesses a gladiator’s spirit, a spirit as comfortable with competition as to make even the legendary Spartans proud. Add to that the fact that he has a warrior mentality, and it’s that mental strength and determination which projects him as the top Pac-12 offensive line for this season.

To earn a top spot in the 2019 NFL Draft, Adams will face some of the most talented defensive linemen in the nation. Each week will pit his best against the nation’s best. He relishes those contests. He practiced against Elijah Qualls and Vita Vea, now both NFL defensive linemen. Fans have plenty of reasons to celebrate offensive tackle Trey Adams return to the lineup this season. By seasons end, they hope to add celebrating a national championship win to the list.
