Washington Football QB Daniel Bridge-Dadd to transfer

Washington Football team anounced quarterback Daniel Bridge-Dadd will transfer to Northern Arizona
The Washington Football team spring training began today. Starting a new football season is more than welcoming new recruits. Limits to scholarships for teams requires a rebalancing of players and scholarships. It’s not unique to Washington, nor is it new. But it’s never a happy time. Saying farewell to a player who is a teammate or Husky family member is tough. It’s standard to experience transfers this time of year.
Some categorize transfers as roster “tweaks”. But those roster “tweaks” are significant to the individual players. It’s the part of NCAA sports that is least appealing to me. For good reason. Contributions, effort, friendships are put on hold, or even severed, due to the mix and match theatrics of the NCAA Scholarship rules.
Best of Luck Daniel and Jomon
I get it. Yes, I know it must happen. And no need to tell me, I already know all teams do it. But it saddens me to say farewell to players who are truly good people. Daniel Bridge-Gadd and Jomon Dotson are good people.
So why mention CB Jomon Dotson too? From Jeffrey Wright who is plugged into the comings and goings this time of year.
Two players I will continue to consider Huskies.
Shuffle the roster deck
The roster needs shuffling. A shipment of new recruits is coming aboard, and the team needs to find places to park them all on the scholarship roster. And for the future of both Bridge-Gadd and Dotson, they will likely see significant playing time with their new teams.

By rights, neither player had much likelihood of getting quality minutes with the Washington Huskies. The talent level of the team continues to rise practically every year. And that forces the team to prune and regraft. Each year it’s a process that must be done carefully. The Washington Huskies have an exciting quarterback crew this season. And spring training is all about seeing and believing. So far, the team should be converting a lot of fans into believers this season.
