Camping by the Lake

Was it enough to keep Coach Lake in purple and gold? You bet! And that’s critical for the team’s near term future.  Jimmy Lake is the mastermind of the Washington Huskies defensive backfield. Not only in coaching, but in recruiting the right young men who fit his transformational coaching methods.

A well-timed promotion.

Not just a new title

Still, this was not a “title only” move by the team. Coach Lake has excelled among the Washington coaching staff, so it falls to reason he assumes more responsibilities this season. And in the process of growning Coach Lake, the team has added a tenth coach in Will Harris, whose defensive backs background will help absorb some of Lake’s previous duties.

The Washington defensive backfield was hit hard by injuries last season. But the team should be better prepared this seaon.  And they could be even better than the 2016 group which sent three defensive backs to the NFL in round 2 of that year’s draft. With the combination of Harris and Lake as coaches, this could be a great secondary.
