The Washington Basketball Team continues to battle in the NIT. But they are competing on another, and perhaps equally important, front. On March 21, 2018, center Bryan Penn-Johnson will announce his decision

The Washington Basketball team surprised everyone this season. Not only did this team turn the program around in one season, but the team managed to advance in the NIT to round 2. Neither of which was expected.  But there is one thing Washington Basketball fans have been counting on. Heavily recruited Bryan Penn-Johnson plans to announce his recruiting decision on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

And on that date, the entire Washington Huskies fan base hopes for his announcement to be the Washington Basketball team.

Recruiting 2017 and 2018

Upon arriving to the Washington Basketball program, Coach Mike Hopkins had to rapidly multi-task these critical areas: He had to:
I   – recruit and hire a new coaching staff
II  – retain as many players as possible
III – re-recruit players who had already committed to, but did not yet play for, Washington
IV – recruit 2017 players to fill the void of those who decommitted
V –  recruit new 2018 prospects.

It’s almost unbelievable that, with so many competing urgent priorities, the team managed to recruit players for 2018 at all. But they did indeed. In fact, the 2018 recruiting class is a solid group of players, each of whom will fill a need on the team.
