Reports the Washington Football team recruiting class of 2019 just added a fourth commitment today in JUCO OL Corey Luciano

The 2019 recruiting class is beginning to line up for the Washington Football team. As soon as you see that telltale “Woof!” from head coach Chris Petersen, you know things have improved. As a matter of fact, that very thing happened again today on Monday, March 12, 2018.

And then it was simply a matter of finding out who, and at what position? Within moments, the details began to emerge.  The commitment came at a position of need, 6-foot-4 286 pound offensive lineman Cory Luciano. And that makes this a very good day indeed.

Offensive linemen are needed for 2019. And in getting a junior college prospect, the Huskies can look for solid contribution for his time with the program.

One more year at both tackle positions

While the Washington Football team welcomed both Trey Adams and Kaleb McGary back for their senior season with open arms, their return merely delays the inevitable. So it stands to reason that come the end of the 2018 season, the team will need to fill both offensive tackle slots.  If the team promotes players to starters in 2019, the roster will need to backfill their vacated reserve spots.  Cory Luciano is an ideal prospect for that role.

At 6-foot-4 and 286 pounds, Luciano is an ideal size for an offensive trenchman.  And per Scott Eklund at 247Sports.com, Luciano is extremely versatile and can slide in to any offensive line position.  That allows the Huskies flexibility to plug and play him in much the same way that the team made use of graduating senior, offensive lineman Andrew Kirkland.

Mutual fit

Luciano fits a need for the Huskies in 2019. Arriving from Diablo Valley junior college, Luciano wants to join a stable and successful college football program. And as a junior college prospect, Washington football coaching staff can expect a solid contributor. Due to NCAA regulations, Luciano is immediately eligible to play, but will have three years to complete his final two seasons of NCAA football eligibility.

Look for news about Luciano in the weeks ahead. He was a heavily recruited lineman who chose Washington over USC, Minnesota, Fresno State, and others. He should do well with the Huskies.
