After the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Minnesota Vikings, two recent additions to the team from the Washington Football team, DT Elijah Qualls and CB Sidney Jones IV, are heading to the Super Bowl.

Washington Football prospects Elijah Qualls and Sidney Jones IV have combined for six tackles on the Philadelphia Eagles. But ready or not, here they come Minneapolis. They are heading to the Super Bowl! It became official after the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings 38-7 to advance to the prestigious last game of the NFL season.

The pair heard their names called in the 2017 NFL Draft. Cornerback Sidney Jones IV came off the board in round 2, despite recovering from an Achilles Tendon injury. Defensive tackle Elijah Qualls arrived to Philadelphia in round six.  Jones played in one game, while Qualls played in six games.

Three times is a charm

Historically, the Philadelphia Eagles have gotten to just three Super Bowls. In the 1980 Super bowl, those Philadelphia Eagles were a three-point favorite, but they ran into a wild-card Oakland Raider team on a mission. The Philadelphia Eagles made it to the 2004 Super Bowl as seven point underdogs, but despite an early lead, they dropped a close one to the New England Patriots.

Now the team is on their way for their third attempt, a rematch with the New England Patriots. Is this third attempt the charm to end up with a different result?  Well, so far, these Philadelphia Eagles have been overcoming their underdog roles in both playoff games on their way. But those were games at home, not the neutral-but-perhaps-not site of Minneapolis Minnesota.  And there is never much reason to feel confident when facing Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in any Super Bowl.  The Patriots are a combined 5-2 in the Super Bowl, having lost twice to the New York Giants.

Washington Huskies making NFL impact

Some NFL players never get to the Super Bowl. The annual event invites the best National Football Conference and American Football Conference teams for a one-time winner-take-all contest. And with just two teams, and oftentimes the same team repeating, that means a lot of players completely miss the Super Bowl altogether for their entire careers.
