2018 Washington Football team Recruiting Class Grew In Number Today as cornerback Kyler Gordon Commits

And so, the Washington Football team now has 19 players in the recruiting class of 2018. But perhaps no commitment was more surprising but more expected than that of four-star cornerback from Everett, Washington, Kyler Gordon.

Gordon adds to an already-impressive recruiting class.  On one hand, some see his commitment as whipped topping on the hot cocoa class of 2018 for the Washington Huskies.  On the other hand, his commitment is more than a garnish or confection.  As a matter of fact, his willingness to say “I Choose Washington” will be heard across the nation. You see, Kyler Gordon was heavily recruited.  He piqued the interest of virtually every Pac-12 school, plus some powerhouses like Nebraska, TCU, and Notre Dame.

Two became one

In the end, it came down to two schools.  Notre Dame or Washington. Gordon chose to entrust his career to Coach Jimmy Lake and Coach Pete Kwiatkowski.

And I, for one, feel he made an excellent choice.  In fact, it’s a wise choice, as the Washington defensive backfield is one of the first stops in any NFL scouts’ tour for talent.

What does Kyler Gordon bring?

It’s clear to fans of the Washington Huskies that there is no such thing as “too many talented defensive backs”.  He brings the kitchen sink when he plays.

The Pac-12 is loaded with talented quarterbacks and receivers. The only way to succeed is to have defensive backs who can cover and tackle. Gordon does both very very well. He joins Dominique Hampton as a pair of very talented incoming cornerbacks.  He was the first player mentioned in building “the perfect Washington recruiting class”.

It’s tough not to be overly optimistic. This is, without a doubt, the best recruiting class in the Pac-12.
