SEATTLE, WA – SEPTEMBER 09: Quarterback Jake Browning

Washington Football team quarterback Jake Browning is not getting much recognition on the national stage. And that’s okay, because all he does is continue to throw touchdowns.

The Washington Football team is not much for individual accolades. Oh, they come. It’s tough to be a talent laden team and not have record setting acknowledgements, awards, and name recognition. But Washington doesn’t run that way as a rule.

Still, there are certain players who thrive in the shadows. Unlike many players actively petitioning for post-season awards, Washington’s quarterback Jake Browning is happy to lead the team to victory without much hoopla.  But hoopla has a way of finding Jake Browning.

Browning sets records

You see, Browning set the University of Washington record for consecutive games passing with a touchdown pass at 17.

Then, he went to Colorado to face the Buffalo. There, he threaded the needle with a 43 yards strike to receiver Quinten Pounds for his 18th consecutive game with a touchdown pass.  And the incredible thing about this?

Browning just throws touchdowns

Nobody is talking about Jake Browning. He has the school at 4-0 the year after winning the Pac-12 championship, and he is not making headlines after setting a new school record.  He has been a standout behind the center for Coach Petersen so far. In less than three seasons, ha has amassed 68 touchdowns and just 21 interceptions. That comes out to over three TD passes per game, on average.

His nine touchdown and 2 interception performance this season so far is under his par. But in the first games of the season, he came out after the score got out of hand.

Jake Browning has led the Washington Huskies to 23 wins and just eight losses in his career.  He averages over three touchdown passes a game. But most of all, he can lead without the national spotlight.

Winning teams are not about one player. Teams win as a group. Right now, that is just what the Washington Huskies are doing.  As the talk of the Heisman Trophy centers around other players, you can be certain that is not the focus of Washington quarterback. He wants to win. And he’s doing that the only way he knows how.

He’ll just keep on tossing touchdowns.
