How can the Washington Football team repeat as Pac-12 champions? On the strong running of Gaskin and Coleman
Myles Gaskin and Lavon Coleman are the key for the Washington Football team repeating as Pac-12 Champions. It is no secret that the offense is led by quarterback Jake Browning, but the two running backs are more vital to the teams success.
According to the Seattle Times, the Huskies only ran for a combined 61 net yards in their two losses last year. As Gaskin and Coleman go, the Huskies go with them.

The offense will still take shots downfield with Dante Pettis and Chico McClatcher as the main targets for Browining, but when the game is tight look for Gaskin and Coleman to feature heavily.
Thunder and Lightning
As defenses wear down toward the end of games, watch the Huskies punish them. Defenses will be powerless as the Huskies force feed them a healthy dose of their two backs. On one hand, the 5-foot-10, 191 pound Gaskin provides the home-run ability from the backfield. On the other hand, the 5-foot-11 223 pound Coleman provides the physicality to hurt defenses.
ESPN has ranked the Huskies duo as the second best running back tandem for this upcoming season, but they will be out to prove they are number one. With John Ross gone to the NFL, look for the Huskies to commit a little bit more to the run game this year.
Heisman Candidate?
With a loaded defense, the Huskies will look to control the clock on offense. A strong mix of pass and run will be beneficial to this team. If the Huskies are to make another run at a undefeated regular season, Gaskin could surprise as a darkhorse Heisman candidate.
Back in March, USA Today, ranked Gaskin number four of running backs most likely to win the Heisman trophy. With big performances against the likes of Stanford, Oregon and Washington State, Gaskin could vault himself right into Heisman contention.
A Championship Ending?
This will be the last season in Seattle for Coleman. You can bet he wants to end his career in Husky purple with a lot of touchdowns. Coleman will be needed for his tough yards and goal-line carries, and there is no doubt he will get into the end zone often.

This Washington football team will rush the ball consistantly. Doing so places them back into the Pac-12 title game. With USC predicted by the media to win the Pac-12 this year, look for Gaskin and Coleman to have a big say in the matter. Myles Gaskin was shutdown in big games last year. That won’t be the case this year. The running duo from Washington will rush all over the Trojans in a title game match-up. Look for the Pac-12 title to stay in the Pacific Northwest.
