As the Washington football team gears up for another season, recruiting efforts for new talent remains a priority. DT Jackson Cravens continues to prove he is Washington Football ready

The Washington Football team is working hard on several fronts. The team is coaching up players, strategizing for a new football season, and recruiting players for future teams. Recruiting will get tougher soon.  Why?

Summer is winding down. Both high school and college football players begin the trek to a new football season. Schedules become more difficult to coordinate. The number of uncommitted players begins to dwindle. And eventually, teams must decide to offer scholarships to fill the roster, or hope that undecided players with higher ranks may commit to their programs.

Some players are worth the wait

Still, Washington football coaches are more content than many.  Because the team takes ownership of their evaluation and assessment, they afford prospects the opportunity to learn for themselves which school may be right for them.

But let’s be honest. When  it comes to that defensive tackle position, a commitment sooner is better than later.  Yes, young men need to exercise their due diligence. Yes, it’s a very important decision which will shape their future. But there are some players who seem such a solid fit for such a need that its hard not to hope for something soon.

Jackson Cravens full of talent

The Washington Football team boasts some of the best defensive line play in the Pac-12.  This year, that is punctuated by the projections of Vita Vea and Greg Gaines,  front-runners who propel the Huskies to the top of the Pac-12 defensive line rankings.  But the team needs players willing to step up and make their mark on NCAA football in a big way.

So far, the defensive line is not generating commitments at a pace I prefer.  Particularly when the team has caught the eye of a player with the upside of Jackson Craven.

Cravens fits purple

Cravens is the type of player who thrives on the Washington Football team. He is passionate, intelligent, and committed. And those three elements are the prerequisite to solid performance as a Washington Husky.  In fact, we identified Cravens fit a month ago. He is a solid player whose production is incredible.

He earned a scholarship offer on May 4, 2017. Since that time, he has amassed offers from 15 different colleges.   Right now, two Utah based analysts project Cravens as a solid lean to the Utah Utes.

Washington could use a solid player like Cravens

The Washington Huskies have to turn that around. Cravens is a huge talent fitting a huge need on this team. Few teams can unlock his potential like the Washington Huskies coaching staff. It’s clear that he has the right mindset to optimize an opportunity with the Washington football team.

In the end, it’s the personal choice of each athlete. And that choice means a great deal to their future. Not every athlete seeks an NFL career.  But for those who do, the track record of Washington with defensive tackles is running pretty hot right now. To the right athlete, that performance will carry some weight.

How the Washington Huskies fill their need at defensive tackle is an unknown. But I definitely see plenty of reasons why this pairing could pave a great future for both the team and player. Hopefully, Jackson Cravens sees the same potential future.
