Washington Football recruits 2018 commitment from offensive tackle Matteo Mele
Washington Football recruits have been about quality over quantity. To date, the Huskies have recruited just eight players, albeit all quality prospects and good fits for the team. As of today, June 26, 2017, the team added to both in the welcome news from Tucson, Arizona offensive tackle Matteo Mele.
And so, Mele’s commitment followed an unofficial visit by the young man. Even so, it’s always nice to see this show up on social media.
Bold prediction proves true
On one hand, if you recall, my first of five bold predictions for the month of June 2017 was to get a commitment from an offensive lineman. That prediction is fulfilled by the 6-foot-6 277 pound Mele. (BTW, Thanks Matteo!)
On the other hand, I have some outstanding predictions which are now running out of time. In fact, I need more tweets from Coach Petersen like this one:
Matteo Mele is a highly coveted offensive tackle who has garnered scholarship offers from 14 colleges, including that from the University of Washington. As a matter of fact, he made the selection to head north, and in doing so breaks a streak of the top-rated Tucson Arizona football prospect committing to the University of Arizona.
Visit goes very well
Matteo Mele is a great size and weight to become a dominating offensive tackle. But like every young man facing a very important decision, he wanted to visit and see for himself. He clearly liked what he saw.
The Washington Football team needed a solid offensive tackle this year. Not only will the team likely lose offensive tackle Trey Adams to the 2018 NFL Draft, but the team has loaded up on two solid quarterbacks to lead an offense that is remarkably well equipped so far.

Matteo Mele is the man for the job. In fact, there are other spots to fill. With any luck, he is the first of many to add to the 2018 recruiting class for the Washington Football team.
