Washington Women’s Basketball announces three new players to the recruiting class of 2017

On one hand, it was no secret that the Washington Women’s Basketball team needed players. As a matter of fact, the team was in a rather difficult position when the team lost four seniors to graduation.  On the other hand, the matter became even more complicated.

And earlier in the year, freshman Aarion McDonald announced plans to transfer away from Washington.  In essence,  McDonald projected as one of the team’s stars this year.  After all the smoke cleared, five of the top six scorers from last season are no longer on the team.

In fact, within the article of McDonalds departure, we named a pair of 2017 incoming freshmen in three-star point guard Kierra Collier and three-star forward Kayla Rooks.

Three New 2017 Players

And so, today the Washington Women’s Basketball team announces the addition of three new players as members of the recruiting class of 2017

First of all, Missy Peterson joins the team as a guard.

Second of all, Fapou Semebene joins the team as a forward.

Thirdly, Lexi Grigsby joins the team as a guard..

Even Steven

In the end, the influx of five new freshman offset the exodus of five players. The Washington Women’s Basketball team has a tough act to follow.  Powered by Kelsey Plums scoring and Chantel Osahor’s rebounding, the team was no stranger to success.

Next: Washington Basketball interests small forward Jamal Bey

Now the team must build behind upcoming senior Natalie Romeo, who averaged 9.8 points per game for the Huskies last year.

While the incoming freshmen are incredibly welcome, much work lies ahead.   It’s still far too early to judge the immediate future of the team, but this is a great stepping stone to achieving great things.
