The 2017 Washington Huskies Recruiting Class Grew In Number Today as Transfer OL Chase Skuza Commits

The University of Washington Huskies Recruiting Class of 2017 took a surprising leap forward today as former Central Washington commit Chase Skuza has emerged on the Washington Huskies roster.

#WOOF!

Not much advance warning as given, until this emerged:

Now, Chase Skuza may not be on your radar. He wasn’t on mine. But this is a very talented young man with significant upside. He has the ideal height for an offensive tackle at 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds. And as a walk-on, he will be eager to impress the team and coaching staff.

Interview Chase Skuza

And he likely will.  Skuza is determined, a positive quality for a young man.  I had the opportunity to interview this young man after his announcement, and asked how he came to go from Central Washington University to the University of Washington

"“I originally signed with Central (Washington University). (So), I guess you could say because of the money, I was so dead set on getting my college paid for through football. But I came to realize that maybe it wasn’t about the money. …I just wanted to chase my dream to play either Big sky or Pac 12 D1 football. So after getting released I took a walk on spot to Eastern washington and i was willing to (play there). But then my dream school, the University of Washington came to my school about 3 weeks ago and said that they wanted me so i had no doubt that i was going to go to UW.”"

Chase Skuza Football Dream Infectious

Every now and then, a young man crosses your path in life.  That young man holds a dream, so fresh, so alive, so energized, that you remember your own youthful dreams.  My interview with Chase Skuza was one such encounter.  I have nothing but positives about this young man. He is a focused and dedicated young man.  I see nothing but success in his future.  His path to achievement will not be dissuaded from his goal.

While Skuza is certainly a prospect ready to compete now, he will most likely be redshirting his freshman year.
