NBA Lottery Results Washington Huskies Markelle Fultz Boston Celtics-Bound

The 2017 NBA Lottery Results are in. Looks like Washington Huskies Markelle Fultz will be Isaiah Thomas‘s teammate on Boston Celtics

Washington Huskies point guard Markelle Fultz is the consensus number one prospect in the 2017 NBA Draft. And so, when the Boston Celtics (via the Brooklyn Nets) landed the top overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, it means many things.  The final three finalists in the NBA Lottery were:

Boston Celtics – First
Los Angeles Lakers – Second
Philadelphia 76ers – Third

But for now, it translates into Washington Huskies guard Markelle Fultz joining former Washington Huskies guard Isaiah Thomas in the backcourt of the Boston Celtics. And it won’t come as a surprise to the young  rookie-to-be. You see, he was right there in the audience:

So he was there. And the results are so obvious that even Kelsey Plum weighed in with her prediction.

Well, yes. There’s that. But what makes Markelle Fultz the NBA consensus as the number one overall pick?  Well we have discussed that in the past.  Check out the highlights video:

We placed his star potential in writing early in the season. We followed that up by identifying Fultz as one of the few NCAA point guards who manufactures as many shots for himself as he dishes out in assists. But now that he is the clear front-runner in the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft, he will get plenty of press.

And so it all falls to the Boston Celtics.  Will the Celtics keep Fultz for themselves? Or will the team follow the course of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and trade a number one pick in the effort to obtain a ready-for-playoffs NBA Veteran as the Wiggins-Love trade did years ago?
