The 2017 NFL Draft is two-way door for the  University of Washington Huskies. As players begin NFL Careers, their success attracts new prospects to UW

And so, the 2017 NFL Draft is now merely hours away.  Even more, it stands for many college sports fans, it’s simply a byproduct of the NCAA sports programs. In short, it’s a final farewell to the beloved players who have contributed mightily to the continued excellence of the University of Washington Huskies football program.

But in many ways it’s not really a door closing.  It’s a door, yes, but a door that opens both ways.

You see, as college fans say farewell to players moving into the new chapter of their careers, there is also the next wave of players arriving.  Those players are attracted to the University of Washington by academics, suitability, compatibility with coaching staff, and role models.

Right now, the University of Washington is about to launch eight new role models into the arena of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Players on Offense

Wide Receiver John Ross
Tight End Darrell Daniels
Offensive Guard Jake Eldrenkamp

Players on Defense

Defensive Tackle Elijah Qualls
Defensive End/Outside Linebacker JoJo Mathis
Safety Budda Baker
Cornerback Sidney Jones
Cornerback Kevin King

As such, the NFL is about to be inundated with University of Washington Huskies, as many as eight new Huskies to be exact.  Each player may land on a different NFL team.  Eight teams out  of the 32 possible. That’s 25 percent.

New Markets

On one hand, there’s likely little chance of any Husky player impacting future recruiting by landing in Florida.   Despite the performance of any player, it would take a bona fide coup for the Washington Huskies to tap into that territory in their future recruiting efforts.   On the other hand, the draft could land some players into the heart of Arizona, which could open up that area. Check out this map to locate the NFL teams current locations.  In fact, NFL Teams in California, Arizona, Nevada (Oakland is heading that way), Colorado, and even Texas create recruiting opportunities for the beloved Washington Huskies.
