The 2017 Washington Husky Recruiting prospects shrank in number today as Safety KJ Jarrell Commits to the Arizona State University , eludes Washington Huskies

Despite the offer from the University of Washington Huskies, the decision for 3-star safety KJ Jarrell came down to two schools: Arizona State University, and the University of Southern California.

Recently, the USC Trojans have successfully poached players who had committed to other programs, including University of Washington’s commit 5-star recruit defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu.

Sometimes that level of success can be counter-productive as prospects who have not yet committed see a dwindling opportunity to play for that team. And so, other teams take on a brighter luster.   It was that effect which might have placed the University of Washington in the running. However, Jarrell has made the decision to remain south:

Live Tracker

We have been tracking all prospects whom UW has shown interest in.  While Jarrell did receive an offer from the Huskies, he had only visited USC, ASU, and California.  He is a 3-star safety from Scottsdale, AZ out of Saguaro High School 6’2” 170 – graded 79 by ESPN.

It’s safe to say that UW was not pressing hard for his commitment to the Huskies.  The team already has a solid commitment from 4-star safety Brandon McKinney.  That is not to say that Jarrell was not in the running.  He is a fine young man who will deliver solid play to the ASU defense.

More from The Husky Haul

It is a difficult decision for young men about to embark on the path to NCAA college football. However,  the decision was so important, he wanted to tell the story in his own words.

The Huskies will simply reload and press forward. There is still time to secure a commitment or two, and there are still positions where the team would benefit from doing so.
