Washington Huskies Football: Former head coach Jim Lambright arrested for alleged domestic violence
According to the Seattle Times report by Jennifer Sullivan, and Adam Jude former University of Washington head coach Jim Lambright was arrested back on June 18 for investigation of domestic violence. Lambright, allegedly assaulted his 23-year-old granddaughter per court documents.
Lambright is battling dementia and according to his wife Lynne in the Seattle Times report suffering from “explosive disorder” and his overall health medically is going in a negative direction.
The incident according to the Seattle Times report allege Lambright of grabbing his granddaughter’s arm, yanking her to the floor and dragging her five feet before the granddaughter could escape.
There has been a request for a no-contact order to be issued for a Lambright to not come in contact with his granddaughters. Hopefully these proactive actions by Lambright’s wife Lynne and the granddaughters will help stabilize this situation.
Lambright of course has a long history with the University of Washington as a former player, assistant coach, and head coach when he took over for Don James back in 1993. Overall, Lambright was 44-25-1 as head coach and kept the program stabilized while the sanctions levied by the Pac-10 were served.
He also in recent years has spent time with Turner Construction and was a consultant for them during the Husky Stadium renovation project which I am sure was huge source of pride for him to be a part of.
As a former student football manager from 1997 through 2001 for the University of Washington and spent my first two football seasons around Coach Lambright he was definitely very intense. He was intense and obviously in better health so I could not see something like this happening.
However. with the current battle with dementia and what it can do to a person reiterates the fact it is a medical disease that does not discriminate in regard to the havoc it can cause. So, for the sake of the Lambright family and for coach Lambright I hope and pray he gets the medical care necessary to help him manage these issues in the best manner possible.
