The Morning Haul: 9/13

Only a day away from Washington’s game at Soldier Field against 2-0 Illinois, and that means the agonizing two-week period between Husky games is finally coming to a close. Obviously an extra week with no football is rough for any fan, especially considering how tantalizing Washington’s season-opening victory over Boise State was. Everyone, whether it be Husky Nation or the national media, is eager to see if Coach Sark’s team can take that offensive show on the road.

As both a fan and a writer covering the team, this extra bye week has been extra challenging. Not only am I excited to see the team play, I’m also excited to have more fresh football to write about. After a long off-season, the Boise State game felt like a feast. So much to break down, so much to discuss. But after a full week of postgame content, it began to feel a bit like the off season again. Luckily, Washington will play for a game for the next seven straight weeks, so no more extra waiting. You know, except for the waiting that will take place today.

  • Speaking of picking the conference games, Miller and Gemmell of the Pac-12 Blog (though those names sound more like a pharmaceutical company or a law-firm) have also thrown out some predictions. Gemmell matches up with my picks 100%, so I’m pretty sure we’re twins separated at birth or something compelling like that.
