A few notes about junior wide receiver Kasen Williams. I haven’t heard anyone mention it lately, but Kasen runs with the football held very casually. Do you remember the Stanford catch when he caught the ball, started running, bobbled the ball, secured it again, and then had the defender poke it out just as he crossed the goal line for a score. He got the job done, but he was really just lucky he didn’t ruin that play based on his poor ball security. It was a little rainy that day, but he was definitely just not securing it with care. I’d like to see him improve in this respect this season.

Also, watching Bishop Sankey highlights, Kasen shows up often with solid, and sometimes pretty spectacular, blocking. I haven’t watched the 2012 games watching his blocking play in and play out, so it’s possible he isn’t consistent in that effort, but he’s definitely ready and willing to use his size and strength advantage over opposing corners.

Multiple sources quoted Coach Sark praising Cyler Miles, but here’s the take from Todd Dybas of the News Tribune. Anyone who has kept on eye on husky football over the past year would have picked Miles as the likely backup this year behind Price, and now Sark has made it pretty clear.

The Huskies took advantage of the Seahawks’ preseason trip down to San Diego by practicing at the VMAC on the shores of Lake Washington for a nice change of pace. Apparently they plan on making the short trip whenever the Hawks vacate the premises for preseason games.
