The Morning Haul: 9/30

facebooktwitterreddit

Well, today is the final day of the first full month of editing the Husky Haul for me, and it has been a great month.

In other news, Washington is officially ranked number 23 in the new AP poll, which is a little lower than what I would have guessed, but on par with the expectations of others, so I suppose I was just a little off in reading that situation. This changes the situation that I talked about in yesterday’s Morning Haul quite a bit, as barely slipping into the rankings means that a loss to Oregon will certainly leave UW out of the rankings next week. Thing is, a win over Oregon would probably mean top-15 status at minimum, probably higher, and following that with a USC win would definitely mean top-10.

To outline a more realistic situation, I’m pretty sure a loss to Oregon followed by a win over #12 USC would put the Huskies back in the top-25 with a 4-2 record because those 2 losses would both have come against top-3 teams. So, as always, the rankings only really serve the fans, and the coaches and players just need to focus on beating Oregon, and the rankings will take care of themselves.
