2013 Marcus Lee: The Name UW Fans Need to Learn
By Mark Knight
Center Marcus Lee (6’9, 2013) is a player that most UW fans have heard of but don’t know anything about. Fans are so fixated on Aaron Gordon, Jabari Parker, and Jabari Bird (and rightfully so) that they aren’t seeing some of the other impressive talent in 2013. Lee is one of those players.
Let’s let his mixtape start off this conversation:
Impressed? Lee is one of the best in the class of 2013 at blocking shots. He blocks everything that gets near the hoop. Many scouts have described him as the guy with the most upside in the class of 2013.
Scout has him rated at 44 in the country and 5 as a Center. Rivals has him as 54 in their top 150, and ESPN puts him at 26.
He is a big time Center/Forward with really high upside. Some scouts call him the “fastest rising name in 2013.” Others refer to him as the “player with the biggest upside”. He has an impressive defensive presence and can get in transition with explosive talent on the offensive end.
Josh Gershon of Scout.com tweeted this about him:
This would be a big time pick up for the Huskies if they are able to land him. He holds over 30 offers (rivals) and has expressed that he wants to visit around 8 schools unofficially. UW being one of them.
Oh, and Nigel Williams-Goss is his point guard for their AAU team, California Supreme.
