The Washington Huskies Are The Pac-12 Regular Season Champions!!!

With Stanford’s victory over the California Golden Bears, the Washington Huskies have won their 2nd outright league championship in the last four years and only the 4th title since the conference began its current structure in 1969. If you take into account the last two Pac-10 tournaments, the Washington Huskies have won the conference title in some form each of the last four years, making this the most successful run in Husky History!

If you would have guessed the Washington Huskies would have finished 14-4 in conference play, following their 5-5 start, I would have called you a liar. But, they have now gone 16-4 since that 5-5 start and are on the verge of going to the 4th straight NCAA tournament for the first time is program history. Darnell Gant is about to become the first Husky to ever go to 4 NCAA tournaments. But, Jerry Palm of CBS Sports currently has the Huskies outside of his bracket. So, apparently that 16-4 record and winning the conference is not enough for him. So, we’ll wait and see how things turn out come Selection Sunday.

But, what we do know is that as the #1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament, the Huskies will await the winner of the Washington State-Oregon State game on Thursday. Until then, let’s celebrate winning another Pac-12 championship. This one was as improbably as anything I can imagine.

So, in honor of yet another title, let’s check out my favorite title song: We Are The Champions
