Husky Recruiting: Marcel White
By Mark Knight
Marcel White is one of the unknown recruits in the 2012 recruiting class. He is playing basketball in Florida and most Husky fans haven’t even seen him play or heard much about him.
He is just another name on a list for Husky Recruiting. White is listed as a 6’5, 200lb small forward/shooting guard. Rivals has him listed as a 3-star.
The Husky Haul was able to catch up with White and get his thoughts on recruiting, his style of play, and if Washington is in the running.
How would you describe your playing style?
Up-tempo, I’m more of a slasher. Can shoot the three but I’d rather get to the cup. I’m a really good defender around the perimeter and in the post.
What would you say is your weakness?
Shooting off the bounce.
What Schools are after you?
James Madison, Alabama, Florida State, Florida Gulf Coast, Charleston, Jacksonville, Washington, Wyoming, USF, George Mason, and Oregon State.
All of them have submitted an offer to you?
All except George Mason, Florida State, and Charleston.
Any of these schools coming after you harder than the others?
FGCU, Jacksonville, and James Madison.
Any visits lined up?
I have taken one to FGCU, Jacksonville, and James Madison.
How do you feel about some of the west coast schools?
I’d like to go (visit) one of them.
Any of those stick out to you?
Washington, I really like. I have heard good things about the coaches and the players.
Which coach is mainly recruiting you from there?
Coach Chilli.
When do you plan to commit to a school?
March.
Thanks Marcel!
The Huskies have at least one open roster spot with the departure of Darnell Gant and may have found a sleeper in Florida. Stay tuned to the Husky Haul for more.
