This Weeks Picks in the Pac-12

As we approach this final weekend of the college football season, I can report that last week was my worst week of the entire season. I almost picked USC in the upset, but didn’t. Oregon State pulled off the upset. Arizona State is worse than even I expected. I finished 3-3 on the week to take my overall record to 62-21.

Let’s see if I can finish the season on a high note:

Colorado at Utah: I expect to see Utah finish out the season strong knowing they have a shot to make the Pac-12 Championship game. However, I said that about Arizona State and I missed it badly. Utah 42 Colorado 10

Louisiana-Lafayette at Arizona: Well, this is an interesting way to end the season for the Wildcats…Arizona 38 Ragin’ Cajuns 28

UCLA at USC: USC will destroy the Bruins this weekend and finally put an end to this pathetic run for the Pac-12 South title for Rick Neuheisel. At least the Bruins have a chances to make the New Mexico Bowl…USC 49 UCLA 7

Oregon State at Oregon: Oregon has to be pissed. An unthinkable loss would knock them out of the Rose Bowl. I doubt they will take any chances and the blowout will happen early. Oregon 49 Oregon State 14

California at Arizona State: The Sun Devils can still make the Pac-12 Championship game with a win. California has a chance to finish the season strong and perhaps sneak into the Holiday or Sun Bowl. I want to think that ASU will win this one, but I am not so sure. I am going with Cal 31 ASU 28 in a close one.

Notre Dame at Stanford: Stanford could still make a BCS bowl with a victory. The Rose Bowl might be out of reach, but the Fiesta Bowl is still in reach if they can beat ranked Notre Dame.  I think they will and make the claim that they were indeed the best team in the Pac-12 this year, despite the loss to Oregon. Stanford 35 Notre Dame 24

Washington State at Washington: I think the Huskies will get it together this week. Not only are they motivated to turn their late season slide around, but the Cougs have lost their carrot of a bowl game following their heart-breaking loss to Utah. It isn’t that Wazzu doesn’t have anything to play for. The Apple Cup is always an important game, regardless of record. Paul Wulff also has personal motivations to try and save his job. But, with the recent injuries and the deflation of their latest loss, I just can’t see how they will have the same level of motivation. An upset wouldn’t shock me, but I think the chances of a large Husky win are greater. Washington 38 Washington State 17
