Huskies Beat Georgia State: 91-74

The brillant play of the Husky guards helped them run away with their first game of the season against the Georgia State Panthers. The Panthers were only able to tie them once, but was never able to take the lead, or hang around for long.

Post Game Notes and Thoughts:

  • The Dawgs had 4 players in double digits. CJ Wilcox had 22 points, Darnell Gant had 18, Tony Wroten Jr. also had 18, and finally Terrence Ross had 11.
  • CBS Sports has Andrew Andrews listed with a rebound. HE DID NOT PLAY and will still red-shirt. Clearing things up before a rumor gets spread around.
  • Jernard Jarreau will also red-shirt. He made the decision with Coach Lorenzo Romar this morning before the game. He wants a year to get better and stronger.
  • Aziz N’Diaye didn’t contribute a whole lot in the rebounding category until the second half. However, he had 5 blocks and I still think he could lead the Pac-12 in blocks throughout the season.
  • N’Diaye finished with 8 rebounds and the two point guards really worked hard off the glass, both Wroten and Gaddy had 7 rebounds.
  • UW shouldn’t be overly worried about the 12 turnovers, there were a few terrible decisions but others are just about learning each other’s movements and playing style.
  • Rashaad Richardson helped keep the Panthers in early as he went 4-5 from 3. He finished the game 7-10 behind the arc. He was just on fire for Georgia State.
  • Wroten was able to generate more “OoO”s and “Ahhh”s from the crowd as he had a few flashy passes and drives into the lane.
  • Hikeem Stewart and Alex Wegner were both able to make 3s.
