Hoops Recruiting Update
By Mark Knight
Here is a quick update on what is happening in the Huskies recruiting scene. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, this is just a list of recently updated things. If there is something or someone to add to these updates please leave it in the comments below!
2012
- Demarquise Johnson- He is just a week or two away from deciding. He is finishing up his last visit to UNLV this weekend and then he plans to decide. I asked him as he was leaving on his trip if there were any favorites and he said, “None, they are all even.” Granted this is what recruits say even if they are leaning a specific direction. But for Johnson, he actually does plan to make a wise and informed decision and he won’t make that decision until after he has seen all 4 universities.
- Anthony Bennett– Nothing has really changed in his recruitment, he is going to be a Spring signee. He still has the same nine; Florida, Washington, UNLV, UConn, Ohio State, Kentucky, Oregon, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh. He has stated many times that he is wide-open and all schools are even. He isn’t planning on visiting any of the schools until spring by then he hopes to have the list down to 5. The decision to drop 4 of the schools will come within the next few weeks, however, he has already pushed this back once because he was unsure of his favorites.
- Zena Edosomwan– He has already taken officials to USC and Harvard. He is currently on a visit to Cal, with Texas next weekend (Oct. 15) and then concluding his visits at UW on Oct. 22. He is expected to decide sometime after his Washington visit.
- Landen Lucas- This one is interesting because he has cut his list and originally it did not include Tennessee or Washington. And Oregon was the landslide favorite. He has since set up 4 visits and those include; Tennessee, Cal, Stanford, and Washington. Two of those schools weren’t in his final 7 and his favorite is now no longer around? This is one to keep an eye on. He also, says, he still wants to add a 5th school to visit. He is at Tennessee this weekend, California next (Oct. 12), Stanford on Oct. 23, and finally Washington on November 5.
- Dominic Artis- A recent de-commit from UCLA, has been rumored that UW is now in the mix. This is probably preliminary interest and many assume that California and Oregon are the favorites.
- Sam Cassell Jr.- He has long disappear on the UW scope. UW may have just been “checking him out” and there hasn’t been much action since the last HH article about him.
2013
- Jabari Parker- The main thing you need to know about Parker is that most of his recruitment he has been wide-open and has let anyone recruit him that wanted him, which was every school. He is now thinking about cutting his list down in the next few months. To limit the amount of contact that he has to maintain. Every recruiting expert thinks that either UW or Duke are the favorites. However, it is a long way to signing day.
- Aaron Gordon- Is planning a visit to UW in November and has already been to Arizona. Besides UW and Arizona he also plans to visit Oregon and New Mexico. (Jason McCleary)
- Jabari Bird- He has openly admitted he is down to Arizona and UW.
- Stephen Domingo- Has recently visited Harvard but has offers from most of the west coast.
- Maurice Kirby- A big center from Arizona has recently expressed interest in the Washington Huskies.
