Predictions for the UW Football Season

Yesterday, I put out my overall Pac-12 predictions. Today I am putting out my game-by-game predictions for UW this season. I ended up picking UW to go 7-5 overall and 5-4 in the Pac-12. That would be good enough for 3rd in the Pac-12 North Division behind Stanford and Oregon. I predict they will be the 5th pick by the contracted bowls for the Pac-12 and will end up in the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl to play Mountain West Conference champion Boise State. I do not believe Boise State or TCU will get a BCS this year, nor do I think a 2nd Pac-12 team will get one either.

I do see 8-4 or 6-6 records as distinct possibilities because there are a few toss up games that are difficult to predict how they will turn out.  A lot of it depends on factors not yet know such as key injuries (to UW and to opponents), the referees (yes, unfortunately Pac-10 refs have been know to affect the results of games), and the intangibles of momentum and confidence. Once a team gets going and confidence soars, they can seem unbeatable. But, one bad bounce can result in a loss that can hurt a team psychologically and when things go awry, everything can really begin to fall apart.

One thing that is lucky for the Huskies is that they do not play Arizona State this year. ASU is expected to be pretty good and had the Pac-10 remained in place, they were scheduled to take a trip to Tempe this year. Unfortunately, UW does not get to beat Rick Neuheisel and UCLA again this year. So, perhaps it is just a wash.

Obviously, the long-term health of Chris Polk is foremost on any Husky fan’s mind when trying to figure out how the season will go. So, without further ado, here are my game-by-game predictions;
