Future Husky Profile: Dezden Petty
By Mark Knight
Height– 6’1
Weight– 210
Position– ATH-FB/LB
HS Stats– About 1,400 yards on the ground with 19 touchdowns as a senior. (seattletimes.com).
Style of Play– He plays downhill on both sides of the ball. UW recruited him to be both a big back in the running-back rotation but to also play fullback. He is tough and runs hard.
Strengths– He has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield (espn.com). He played QB earlier in high school and that gives him some immeasurables that most fullbacks do not posses such as running and offense, field vision, and awareness. He is a strong blocker and a powerful runner.
Weaknesses– He is so athletic and versatile that in his high school days he didn’t have enough time to really mature and develop at one position. He played in a variety of ways but found that running-back and fullback best suited him. He is still really raw but shows tons of potential just by his sheer athleticism.
Potential– He is rated as a 2 star prospect but the number 11 full-back in Scout.com’s recruiting class. He may not ever find himself as the starter at running-back but he could see significant duties as a fullback. That is where he fits best.
Projected Usage- He could find himself playing his true-freshman year due to the depth at running back. Regardless, he will need a year or two to really get situated at his position.
