Sunday News and Notes
By Mark Knight
There has been a lull in post worthy news since the NBA draft. However, there have been a bunch of small things that have come up that you may want to know about. This is the case both in the UW football and basketball.
Here is what has been happening in Football:
- Cory English has been offered by UW but did not commit has was originally published by Realdawg.com. However, after publishing that story they shortly after came with a rebuttal that basically said they jumped the gun, and the mom gave them false information. The word from English’s own mouth is that he is still undecided. He is one of those diamonds in the rough type players. He probably wants to see how much notoriety he can gain this school year.
- Bryan Harper a freakish athlete out of Ontario, California has picked up an offer from the Huskies. He most likely fits in the defensive-back position but could basically have his choice at any number of positions on any given roster.
- Bishop Sankey informed me he will be arriving to UW on July 6. This is around the timeframe of most incoming football players that didn’t make the spring transition.
- Korey Durkee of Gig Harbor, WA is the punter of the future for the Huskies as they heard his verbal commitment in the last couple of days. He is known for having a really strong leg. Bob Condotta said that Coach Sark saw him hit the roof of the indoor Dempsey Stadium and offered him a scholarship right then and there.
Here is what is happening in Basketball:
- I reported earlier this week that Demarquise Johnson a 2012 shooting guard out of Westwind Prep unofficially visited UW. He is now on his unofficial visit to Missouri.
- Terrence Ross is attending the Kevin Durant Nike Skills Academy this weekend. Where about 20 top college prospects and 40 high school recruits are said to be in attendance. A notable attendee from last year was Austin Rivers.
- Brandon Ashley one of the top 2012 recruits in the country is transferring from Bishop O’Dowd to Findlay Prep. This is one of UW’s most coveted prospects. He is considered to be slightly an Arizona lean but reiterates that he is completely undecided at this point.
- Jabari Parker, a 2013 recruit, was the MVP for the U16 Gold Medal winning team in Mexico. He also is at the Kevin Durant Nike Skills Academy.
- Aaron Gordon was also part of that winning Gold Medal team. UW is also chasing him for 2013.
