Can Sark Steal Shaq Thompson?

Shaquille Thompson, from Grant Union High in Sacramento California, is listed as the number 1 safety in the country by both Scout and Rivals.

He has the ability to play defensive back, safety, wide-receiver, and running back and Scout.com says he could play any one of those spots at the next level. But they think he is best fit at the safety position because of his natural athleticism and instincts at safety.

Thompson has long been thought of as a lock to go to the California Golden Bears and that even if he was to visit other schools, he would still go with his favorite, Cal. However, Greg Biggins of ESPN.com talked with Thompson and he said that the Huskies are ‘moving up fast’.

That he plans to take an official visit to the Huskies and that he will be watching them closely in the fall to see if he would fit into the system. Without spoiling anymore of the article because it is an insider feature, just the fact that Thompson identifies the Huskies as moving up is important to note.

He has said on many occasions that he would take his time in the recruiting process and thus don’t expect a decision from him anytime soon. However, once a lock for Cal may now be open to becoming a Husky. Can Sark land this 5-star safety as part of an already impressive recruiting class? It looks promising.

Thompson has listed his top 7 as California, UCLA, USC, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Notre Dame. California is the favorite. He plans to take visits to most if not all of those schools, some will be unofficial visits while others will be official.
