The 2011/12 Husky schedule was finally released today and it come with some big news. The Marquette game (Dec. 6th) at Madison Square Garden for the Jimmy V. Classic was revealed a week or so ago, but the addition of a game with Duke (Dec. 10th) at the Mecca of basketball is the cherry on top.
The Duke game will be broadcast on CBS nationally while the Marquette game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. You wanted more national coverage? Romar got it. Not to be overlooked are the true road games at Nevada and Saint Louis. Romar had been criticized for not scheduling enough road games and I think he would agree.
Here is a link to the full schedule that UW released today.
Other Schedule Notes:
- Two “true road games” are on the pre-season schedule; at Nevada and at Saint Louis (Romar’s former team).
- The Dawgs will host the BTI Classic at Alaska Airlines Arena against Portland, Florida Atlantic, and Georgia State.
- The road trip from Nevada to New York, Dec. 2-10th, will be Romar’s longest, non-tournament, road trip ever.
- Senior Dawg, Scott Suggs, gets his chance to play at home against Saint Louis in Missouri.
- Other home games during the non-conference: Houston Baptist, UC Santa Barbara, South Dakota State, Cal State Northridge, and Seattle U.
- UW finishes the Pac-12 season with 3 road games (@WSU, @USC, and @UCLA). Everyone should circle that road game at UCLA right now. Could be for all the marbles.
- Per the new Pac-12 schedule organization, UW will only play AT Utah and Colorado while only playing at HOME against Cal and Stanford. Advantage: UW there. Cal and Stanford will be better teams than Utah and Colorado.
