The NBA Draft Projection of Isaiah Thomas

facebooktwitterreddit

Projecting where Isaiah Thomas might end up is not an easy task because he has extreme levels of talent but his size deters some teams. He could easily be grabbed high by a team because of his intangibles and ability to score but could slip because his size comes with a risk.

Many doubters assume that he won’t be as effective at the NBA level and that his talent hit the ceiling at UW. Some scouts have issues about his shooting consistency and others about his penetration ability.

However, Dawg fans know that if anything Isaiah Thomas is clutch, I think Gus Johnson said it best when he called Thomas- “COLD BLOODED!”

I scoured through way too many NBA mock drafts, many don’t have second round mocks, some don’t have Thomas in their second round mock and the others fell this way:

The highest mock, as you can see above, had him listed as the 37th overall pick which is really high in the 2nd round but still in the second round. Which is where about everyone thinks he will go besides Isaiah Thomas and Jason Terry.

Terry has been helping Thomas work out and prepare for the NBA draft and in April, Terry told the Dallas Morning News, “If he does it and he really commits himself for the next three months, there’s no doubt he’s going to go in the first round.”

Isaiah Thomas continues to tell reporters that he is trying to prove he is worthy to be drafted higher. And there have been some teams that seem to be really intrigued by him. Percy Allen from the Seattle Times, said that the Houston Rockets seem to be really checking him out. Obviously the mock drafters from above think the Lakers may want to grab him, and there have been other teams rumored to be looking at him.

As of now, Thomas as still yet to hire an agent.
