Last night was the annual basketball team banquet in which the seniors are honored, the season is remembered, awards are given out, and as Isaiah Thomas put it; ‘rich people food’ is eaten.
The Awards that were given out last night were:
Wurster Award (top hustler): Justin Holiday
Hec Edmundson Most Inspirational: Darnell Gant
John Meyers Defensive Player: Justin Holiday and Matthew Bryan-Amaning
Most Improved Player: Scott Suggs
Industrial Award (hardest worker): Aziz N’Diaye
Marv Harshman Trophy (top rebounder): Matthew Bryan-Amaning
Brandon West Walk-On Award: Brendan Sherrer
101 Scholar Athlete: Brendan Sherrer and Aziz N’Diaye
Play-Maker of the Year: Isaiah Thomas
Coach’s Award: Terrence Ross and CJ Wilcox
Most Valuable Player: Isaiah Thomas
The graduating seniors that were honored: Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Justin Holiday, and Venoy Overton. Also, Isaiah Thomas was honored because his decision to leave for the NBA.
It was a crazy, fun, frustrating, amazing, wild ride all at the same time but this year’s group of huskies overall was a group that had fun and played some good basketball when needed.
Now we as fans turn to next year and the potential of 6 new players joining the huskies and hoping and praying that next year’s group brings us a little farther.
