Angelo Chol an ‘Instant Impact’
By Mark Knight
Angelo Chol is coming to visit today and throughout this weekend. The Huskies need to land his commitment because of our definite need at the position and the instant impact Chol will make on the Huskies squad.
Matthew Bryan-Amaning is graduating and Tyreese Breshers is retiring. Leaving us with Aziz N’Diaye and Darnell Gant to shore up the post play. N’Diaye is a solid defender but is not a legitimate offensive threat in most cases. Darnell Gant will be a solid player next year but not at the impact level of what we will be looking for in the post. Desmond Simmons will be coming off of his red-shirt season and could look to be that impact player but it is still to be determined if he is going to fit more of the small-forward role (like a Justin Holiday or Terrence Ross) or is he going to play power-forward. Walk-on, Brendan Sherrer, who is better known as the human victory cigar is the only other forward currently on the team and he will most likely continue being the cigar again next season.
Jernard Jarreau will be coming in as a true freshman and will look to really solidify the depth on the roster, but looks like he may need some time to bloom in the Husky system. At 6’10 and 200 pounds, he is physically ready but may need a year to develop into a true starter in the Husky offense.
Thus, if you are following closely you can see the necessity of signing a high-profile power forward. And Angelo Chol looks to be just that as he has improved this season on his jump-hook and his power moves inside. He is already a solid defender with an amazing ability to shot-block and block out for big rebounds.
Angelo Chol is a must get for Husky recruiting and over the course of his career could really become that stud power-forward, Husky nation is looking to find.
