Matchup: UW is looking to regain some momentum for their program and in the PAC-10 standings after that 3 game road trip where the Huskies lost all 3 games. UW seems to play with more pose and a cleaner game at home. Tonight, they are hoping to show that once again.
Cal is coming off of a huge 3-OT loss to Arizona, where many of their players were on the court for more than 55 minutes. UW is hoping to take advantage of those tired legs, however, Cal is seeing that close loss to Arizona as a proving point that they are back in this PAC-10 race and to prove it, they want to beat the Huskies.
The last time they met, earlier this season, UW was able to win rather handedly (92-71) and Cal credits that loss to their inability to stop Isaiah Thomas. Thomas had 27 points and 13 assists in the game while the other 2 stars Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Justin Holiday weren’t too far behind with 22 and 23 points respectively.
You might think that Cal didn’t come out in the 2-3 Zone like most of the teams that have had success against UW but Cal did use the 2-3 zone, just to no success as UW was able to find a way around it. Let’s hope they are able to do that again tonight.
The Dawgs are hungry, they haven’t feasted for weeks, and tonight they are hoping ‘Golden Bear’ is on the menu.
