Future Husky: Bishop Sankey Profile
By Mark Knight
Height– 5’9
Weight– 185
Position– Running Back
HS Stats– His season season was by far his most impressive and productive year, he carried the ball 254 times, accumulating 2,369 yards with 33 touchdowns. This is more impressive when you do the math and see he was averaging a 9.33 carry average. (stats from spokesman.com)
Style of Play– Sankey is a hard but elusive runner. He does not have breath-taking speed but that doesn’t mean he is slow, he has “football speed”. His style of play is more of downhill runner with incredible ability to break tackles and shake defenders.
Strengths– He is strong, he is agile, he has great hands, an ability to use his catching ability out of the backfield. And as stated above, he is very elusive.
Weaknesses– His height and bulk might be a little small to carry a rushing load for a whole game. The goal would be to increase the bulk without decreasing the agility or the elusiveness.
Potential– His potential is through the roof. This could be a guy that someday is shouldering the load for the Huskies in the backfield.
Projected Usage- As a true freshman look to see him utilized in the special teams game. He could also rotate in as special down back. He won’t take many carries away from Chris Polk but will use his freshman year to develop.
