In the past 24 hours, college football network On3 has released two different preseason All-American lists: an "All-Transfer Portal" team and an "All-True Freshman" team. The Washington Huskies found two of their players on those lists for the 2025 season - one for each team. Let's take a look at each of them.

Tacario Davis

Starting with the All-Transfer Portal team, senior cornerback Tacario Davis earned the nod from On3. Davis opted to remain in college after receiving some first-round buzz in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 6 feet 4 inch transfer from Arizona has already played under UW head coach Jedd Fisch during the 2022 and 2023 seasons for the Wildcats.

After initially not coming with Fisch to Seattle last season, Davis rejoins his former coach after a stellar junior season in Tucson. He recorded 44 tackles and six pass breakups, and was honored as a second-team All-Big 12 selection and a Jim Thorpe award semifinalist - an award that recognizes the nation’s best defensive back.

When you include Davis’s sophomore season, he has started in 22 of the 25 games played for Arizona, appearing in all of them - showcasing an ability to stay on the field and record a significant amount of snaps. For his career, Davis has 76 total tackles, 22 pass breakups, and an interception. He was also a second-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2023.

Davis joins a Washington secondary that projects to be dominant this season. On the other side of the field from Davis, he will play alongside fellow 6 feet 4 inch cornerback Ephesians Prysock - forming one of the tallest cornerback duos in the nation. Both seniors project to be highly-touted prospects for the NFL.

John Mills

Bay Area native John Mills comes to Washington after an impressive high school career at St. Ignatius Prep. The 320 pound, 6 feet 6 inch offensive lineman earned various first-team honors in California and was ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.

Originally committed to Texas, Fisch swayed Mills to flip his commitment to Washington - where his grandfather, Joe Ryan, starred as an offensive tackle in the early 60s. Adding Mills was a massive recruiting win for the Huskies, whose offensive line struggled mightily last season.

On3 certainly recognized the immediate impact Mills can have on the Huskies right away when they decided to add him to the preseason All-True Freshman team. Mills is already battling for the starting left guard spot with redshirt freshman Paki Finau, and for some publications, is projected to win that battle and start right away. Regardless, both young players are likely future staples on the offensive line together for years to come.

Even if Mills isn't the starter when August 30 rolls around in Washington's first game against Colorado State, he will undoubtedly play plenty of snaps this season. Mills has the size and skillset to move around the offensive line and fill in at tackle or guard positions in case of injuries or underperformances.

Washington's only 10 days away from kicking off the 2025 regular season, and year two under Fisch brings a fresh chance to solidify the Huskies’ footing in the Big Ten.
