The 2018 Washington Football Class Grew In Number Today as offensive guard  recruit Victor Curne Commits

When it rains, it pours, or so it seems with attracting prospects to the Washington Football team. In fact, new recruits to the class of 2018 come in waves so far.   The last news for the class was offensive tackle Matteo Mele commitment in late June 2017.  But head coach Chris Petersen had a surprise in store:

And we know what that means!  But who? And at which position?  The Washington Football team is solid today, but will need reinforcements. Particularly the offensive line, which could lose a number of great starters.  Now, a month after Mele’s announcement, the offensive line is even more robust with the commitment of offensive guard Victor Curne out of Houston Texas.

Curne is a solid pickup. He is a 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive line lineman currently out of Second Baptist High School.  His play was on the radar of a number of NCAA football programs, and he had earned offers from 13 schools.  In the end, he chose the Washington Huskies. You can see what he brings with this video courtesy of Hudl.com.

Hidden need next year

He is now one of 11 players to commit for the 2018 program.  He joins Mele as the lone two offensive linemen in the class so far.   This is a huge pick up as the team, while boasting one of the best offensive lines in the nation this season, will be likely filling a number of significant starting roles for next year.  Curne will certainly be part of the strong competition.

Right now, the Washington Football team is likely one of the best in the Pac-1, and likely in the nation.  With center Coleman Shelton leading the unit, this line could propel a number of players into the 2018 NFL Draft.

Curne is integral is ensuring a seamless transition.  While the players stepping up to fill the void are likely already on the team, Curne will push them hard for playing time, and his presence ensures the type of depth needed for any team hoping to compete for a national title.
