USC QB Decommits. Washington Football prepares for USC Poaching

USC quarterback commit Matt Corral recently decommited. With two outstanding quarterbacks heading Washington Football‘s way for 2018, you can bet USC attempts to poach one

Washington Football knows the tactics of USC very well.  They love to raid recruiting classes of PAC-12 teams. Not only does that improve their team, but in their mind, impedes their competition.  So the  news of quarterback Matt Corral’s decommit is both a blessing and a bane for Washington Football fans.

USC Raiding Underway

In quick response, USC is already attempting to raid other PAC-12 teams.  They have already reached out to UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

And also to Utah quarterback Jack Tuttle.

So far, USC has not been making progress.

    • Sam Stands In The Way

    It is only a matter of time before USC attempts to lure one of two Washington quarterback commits: Jacob Sirmon or Colson Yankoff; away from the team.  Unfortunately, USC has a starter in returning quarterback Sam Darnold. Any recruit heading to USC must prepare to sit while Darnold runs that team. He has three years of NCAA eligibility.

    USC must persuade a quarterback that he will eventually get enough playing time to get the NFL’s attention.  Right now, that is a hard sell.  Even moreso is the reality that Washington Football teams get more from their players in recent years.  That’s the result of a coaching staff that recruits for fit and not just from scouting reports.     Sun Persuades Youth

    Sometimes college recruits don’t examine programs closely enough. Sometimes players are persuaded to chase their NFL career in the sunshine. When that happens, Washington presses on, achieves, and never looks back.

    Next: February 4, 2017 – The night Ball and Fultz went head to head

    In the end, sunshine is not always the best track to take. The NFL career which lay before college athletes offers plenty of sunshine later. NCAA football is the time to train to be the best.  But it’s not always something a maturing teenager wants to hear. In the end, Washington Football coaches had best batten down the hatches. Another USC poaching storm is heading their way.
