I picked all of this weekend’s Pac-12 games here, and this year I’ll also be going over the results after the games have finished to keep you updated on what’s happening in the conference and to hold myself accountable for my picks.
Utah State at Utah
My Pick: Utah 27, Utah State 17
Actual Score: Utah 30, Utah State 26
I projected a solid win for the Utes, and instead they had to fight tooth and nail for victory. The Utah defense looked ugly, but fans are likely excited to see that their team has what it takes to win rough even when things do not go as planned.
USC at Hawaii
My Pick: USC 33, Hawaii 10
Actual Score: USC 30, Hawaii 13
So judging by the score I was very close. Only thing is, I said that USC would do “fine” against the Rainbow Warriors. In the first half, that really wasn’t the case, as USC offense failed to execute and had to rely mostly on UH QB Taylor Graham’s barrage of interceptions. They pulled away later in the game, but this isn’t a win that will put USC fans at ease.
Northern Arizona at Arizona
My Pick: Arizona 41, N Arizona 20
Actual Score: Arizona 35, N Arizona 0
About right on the Wildcat offense, but way off in thinking that Northern Arizona would be able to score some on the Arizona defense. A poor unit last year, they looked much improved. Foolish to assume that shutting out an FCS team means they’ve turned a corner, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on in the Pac-12 South.
Nicholls State at Oregon
My Pick: Oregon 60, Nicholls State 7
Actual Score: Oregon 66, Nicholls State 3
Oregon decimated a bad football team in Eugene. Move on, nothing to see here.
