The Huskies have received a letter of intent from John Ross of Jordan High School (Long Beach, Calif.). Ross is a 5’9” wide receiver that was heavily recruited. He boasts offers from Michigan, Oregon and UCLA among others. After taking his official visit to Washington on December 7, 2012, Ross took one more visit (UCLA) before verbally committing to the Huskies on January 4. A month later and he has now signed his letter of intent.

Many believe that Ross’ only weakness is his size. Standing only 5’9” and weighing in at 165 pounds, Ross has some work to do in the weight room once he hits campus. Despite being undersized, Ross was still rated a four stars by ESPN and Scout due to his playmaking ability. He is one of the quickest players in the nation while having good hands as well.

Due to his athleticism, Washington will be able to immediately use Ross, whether it be in the return game or at wide receiver. He has the ability to develop into a De’Anthony Thomas type of player for the Huskies in the future. Despite his small stature, Ross has the potential to develop into a dynamic player for Washington, contributing in the receiving and return games for years to come.
