Robert Upshaw Picks Fresno State Over Washington
By Mark Knight
Robert Upshaw, a 7’0 Center decided to stay with his home town university and go with Fresno State over Washington, California, and USC.
He picked the Bulldogs after rumors were swirling that he was visiting a mystery school and would commit there today. It turned out his official visit wasn’t far from home as he even spent part of his visit at his house, according to Dave Telep of ESPN. He didn’t have an official list but the hats that were on the table (see picture right) were California, Washington, Fresno State, and USC.
This was after Frank Martin left Kansas State and left Upshaw with a big decision about his orignal commitment with KSU. He decided to re-open his commitment and there was immediate interest from UW. Lorenzo Romar is known to be chasing at least one big man in this class and Upshaw would have been an impressive pickup. However, the cards fell to the home town school that was recruiting him all season and was amongst the first to call when he reopened his commitment.
